The ePreop™ software suite was created by physicians to solve the problems they saw in the operating room every day. Our three platforms, SurgicalValet™, AnesthesiaValet™, and Surgical CDI™, increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve outcomes in hospitals and surgery centers around the country.
Dr. David Bergman attended medical school at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences and completed an anesthesia residency at University of California, Irvine. He served as chief resident and went on to become an attending anesthesiologist at St. Jude Medical Center in Fullerton, Calif. There, Dr. Bergman served as chairman for two years and worked in clinical practice for 11 years.
Dr. Bergman cofounded ePreop, Inc. in 2008, also serving as the CEO. The company’s mission has been to create a perioperative software plugin that works with any existing EHR platform to simplify the surgical encounter, increase patient safety, optimize patient readiness, and improve outcomes with fewer readmissions and shorter lengths of stay. The modular software platform includes physician and patient engagement tools, Surgical CDI™ (Clinical Documentation Integrity) features, patient tracking board, and quality outcomes capture. It is live today with integrations linking most major EHRs and anesthesia billing companies.
Dr. Kulkarni is co-founder of ePreop, Inc. He is a board-certified anesthesiologist and a Vice President with Allied Anesthesia Medical Group. His practice includes neonatal, pediatric and adult anesthesia at St. Joseph Hospital and CHOC Children’s in Orange, California.
After graduating from The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health, Dr. Kulkarni completed his residency in anesthesia at University of California-Irvine Medical Center. He specifically sought out rotations at various institutions in the Southern California area to work with patients of all ages and learn a range of treatment methods.
Additionally, Dr. Kulkarni frequently travels abroad with charitable organizations that provide medical and surgical services to underserved communities in the developing world. This training and experience have given him insight into the extraordinary diversity of practice styles and management approaches in health care.
Having seen such dramatic differences in health care delivery and resource utilization, Dr. Kulkarni has nurtured a special interest in reducing health care costs and improving operating room efficiency without sacrificing quality of care. As a member of the Clinical Institute at St. Joseph Hospital, he is committed to using evidence-based medicine and best practice guidelines to document and improve patient outcomes. He also has an interest in technology in medicine and has served in various technology roles for Allied Anesthesia Medical Group.
Mr. Reid Wilburn has significant operational and sales experience in the home care, pharmaceutical, diagnostics and consulting industries. He has provided business counsel during the development process of ePreop, Inc. and is currently acting as the chief operations officer.
Mr. Wilburn was co-founder and COO of a national home health care and pharmacy corporation. He participated from startup through the final phase of acquisition by a publicly traded company.
As a consultant, Mr. Wilburn has worked in numerous industries, providing operational assistance in general business disciplines and advanced marketing and sales programs. Additionally, Mr. Wilburn served as VP of sales and marketing for an emerging pharmaceutical company.
During his tenure, he took their sales from $3 million to $30 million in annual revenue. Mr. Wilburn also served as the director of international business development and was responsible for opening markets all over the world—from Canada and Chile to the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Hungary.
Mr. Wilburn has considerable experience working with both domestic and international government agencies. While working abroad and throughout the United States, his contact with differing health systems, workers and philosophies has continued to inspire his work in the health care arena.
Dr. Peng joined ePreop, Inc. in 2008 as chief medical advisor. Dr. Peng is board-certified in anesthesia and emergency medicine. His current practice is with Fullerton Anesthesia Associates at St. Jude Medical Center in Fullerton, California. He is also an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of California-Irvine Medical Center Department of Anesthesia.
After graduating from the Keck School of Medicine of University of Southern California, Dr. Peng attended University of California-Irvine Medical Center for residency in emergency medicine, where he also served as chief resident. Dr. Peng completed residency training in anesthesia at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he remained as a clinical instructor. His perspective on preoperative medicine is unique, as he is exposed regularly to both academic and private community hospital settings.
Dr. Peng has extensive experience in the area of preoperative medicine. He founded the website anesthesiarisk.net, which has been covered by multiple anesthesiology societies and publications. The site provides information to patients regarding all aspects of preoperative care and identifies anesthesia risks to improve postoperative outcomes. Dr. Peng has also authored several publications on the perioperative period.
Al Dobron is Chairman of ePreop’s Board. Mr. Dobron also serves on the Boards of Beers Enterprises and SoHalo. From 1999-2014, Mr. Dobron worked at Providence Equity Partners, most recently as Global co-head of the firm’s Media sector, and Global Head of Digital Media and Sports. During that time Mr. Dobron served on numerous Boards, including: Autotrader.com, Hulu, iQiyi, YES Network, Major League Soccer, ProSiebenSat1, Univision, Newport TV, Bluestone Television, whitepages.com, and NFL/PEP Ventures.
From 1996-1999, Mr. Dobron worked at Morgan Stanley (New York) in the firm’s Mergers and Acquisitions group. Mr. Dobron graduated from Harvard Business School in 1996 and was President of the Student Association.
Mr. Haase has served in financial leadership roles within the Healthcare industry, and in technology leadership roles with numerous companies. Mr. Haase shifted to the financial side of building companies upon earning an MBA from The Wharton School.
Mr. Joe Lesters joined ePreop in 2014 as executive vice president of technology. Mr. Lesters has worked with ePREOP and its customers in a consulting role since 2009 and is responsible for the information technology strategic vision and technical business operations.
Mr. Lesters has a healthcare IT consulting background with physician offices and hospital systems, where he has led projects related to business process analysis, workflow development, implementation of electronic medical record systems and healthcare IT interoperability. Prior to healthcare IT consulting, Mr. Lesters served as vice president of Claymore Securities (now Guggenheim Investments), where he was responsible for business operations analysis of US and Canadian entities. Mr. Lesters brought to market and serviced 35 exchange traded funds (ETFs) and over $1.6 billion in assets under management (AUM).
Mr. Lesters is an information technology leader who brings experience and best practices from multiple industries, including health care, financial services, logistics and telecommunications. Mr. Lesters graduated with a BS in Management Information Systems from Purdue University.
